The world’s biggest Vuvuzela, fitted close to Cape Town’s V&A Watefront will remain quiet for the time being as authorities fear that blowing it will result in traffic chaos.

The vuvuzela, sponsored by Hyundai, is 37 metres long and, according to a report in published in the Sunday Times today it is “extremely loud.”

Municipal authorities fear that the loud noise could make the normally chaotic Cape Town traffic even worse.

"It's extremely loud," said Francois Marais, marketing manager for Hyundai South Africa, makers of the giant vuvuzela, who said his firm was still in talks with the City of Cape Town and hoped that they will allow at least one honk later in the tournament.

"Hopefully, we are going to come to a compromise where we can blow it at special occasions, the final, the semi-finals and perhaps the quarter-finals," Marais was quoted to have said.
