Accra Zoo
The Accra Zoo was set up by the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, as a private menagerie in the early 1960s and was opened to the public after his overthrow in 1966. The zoo houses many birds and animals endemic to Eastern Africa.
