Tanzania has a shortage of 10,500 engineers, the Principal of the College of Engineering of the University of Dar es Salaam (CoET), Prof Jamidu Katima, said in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. Prof Katima said the country has so far produced 50 per cent of the number of engineers demanded, pointing out that at present one engineer serves 4,000 people, instead of 2,000 as per international standards.
