This bi-annual ECOWAS Trade Fair, to be held over 17 days, starts on 25th November 2011 and will be held alongside the 9th Lome International Trade Fair, a special arrangement between the ECOWAS Commission and the Government of Togo.
The amendments to the original planning were put in place due to the inability of Cote d’Ivoire to host the fair in 2010 with the civil war which broke out after this country’s elections.
The ECOWAS Trade Fair is a regional platform for accessing West Africa’s market of more than 300 million consumers.
The president of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe, said the decision of Togo to save the 6th ECOWAS Trade Fair by hosting it, is a demonstration of Togo’s commitment to the integration project of the region.
Aim
The Trade Fair’s mission is to promote economic integration and trade among the citizens of the ECOWAS community, especially industrialists, investors, manufacturers, commercial operators and buyers.
Theme 2011
The theme of the fair “Strengthening Intra-Community Trade through Public-Private Partnership”, is open to role players from all over the world intending to do business with, or invest in, West Africa.
The fair will showcase products and services originating in the region, such as industrial products, animal husbandry and fishing, minerals, cottage industry, textiles and services from various other sectors.
Participants will also be given the opportunity to take part in conferences, seminars and workshops on various themes related to the overall theme of the fair. This will enable participants to interact with other professionals with the prospect of concluding business deals which could promote trade and help improve the living standards of community citizens.
