Former U.S. President George W. Bush has arrived in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, to address the opening of a five-day international conference on AIDS in Africa. Mr. Bush, accompanied by his wife and two daughters, is concluding an African tour that has already taken him to Tanzania and Zambia.

The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) hopes to bring over 10,000 delegates for its 16th conference in Addis Ababa in December this year.

ICASA is one of the major international AIDS conferences happening in Africa. Its current biennial hosting alternates between the Anglophone and Francophone African countries. ICASA 2008 was held in Dakar, Senegal.

A 25 member delegation from the German based Heart for Ethiopia Association has offered free cardiac surgery as well as donated cardiac surgical equipment worth over 400,000 euros to the Black Lion Specialized Teaching Hospital.
